WINNERS ANNOUNCED... Next Steps & Here's to Many More Steps Ahead :)

As we recover from an EPIC fifth edition of the Climate Change Makers Challenge, and an especially incredible finals last Sunday (here's the recording if you missed it :), we are thrilled to announce a record-breaking 15 TEAMS were awarded prizes this year! And who were they?... It's announcement time...

... Drumroll please...

... Whoot whoot & a badadoom doom...

... More unnecessary suspense...

... Alrighty, we can't hold it any longer...

... Please join folks in giving a MASSIVE CONGRATS x 15 to...

  • Our three best-of-the-rest winners, each receiving CAD $100: Ecowiz, SustainEdge & Under the Lake
  • Our joint third place winners, each receiving CAD $200: ClimaBee, Flowers of the Desert & Risk Vision
  • Our second place winner: Be My Tree, receiving CAD $300 for their wonderful innovation
  • Our mystery award winners the award selected by our very own Bird of Change, that our team considers the most important of them all, but whose nature will remain a mystery except to those that watched our final or check out the recording (valued at CAD $50 each) AlgiefinderAI, Climate Nexus, CriPas, Educational Activity in Guangzhou, FreshFusion, GreenSkills & Sustainaview.
  • And finally, last but certainly not least (in fact most by monetary value at CAD $1K), a particularly BIG CONGRAAATS to our GRAND PRIZE winners: FAWS, i.e Flood Analysis Warning System.

Honourable mentions go out to all our teams but especially finalists One Action at a Time & UnEarth... We had some truly incredible projects this year, and end CCM feeling inspired by the brilliance we saw this weekend. Honored by the time so many folks gave. Uplifted by the passion, dedication and innovation of youth. And hopeful that although this crisis is difficult, we as a COMMUNITY can together figure this out.

We'll be in touch with folks over Slack about payment logistics, our certification program (final forms + reflections due tomorrow for those doing that), our public choice award that is TBD but will be open for voting soon on our Instagram's @taketheoathe & @youthimpactchallenge, and more.

But for now folks, please take a moment to reflect on what's been an inspiring last two weeks, and truly, CONGRATS to you all on accomplishing so much, prize or not, and hope you did learn something, meet new people & develop skills or ideas that you can use in your climate leadership journey. THANK YOU as well for your hard work and dedication as youth innovating for our planet, and also to our judges, mentors, speakers and other guests. And BE READY, for this is just the start, there's a LOT of work still to do...

This fight is bigger than any one of us, and it is all of us that will together make a difference :)
